With good pre-season snowfalls, including a recent storm that delivered 50cm of fresh, dry powder, Aomori Spring Resort is set to open early, on Monday 12th December! This positive start to the season adds to an exciting line up of events and activity for the winter 2016-17 ski and snowboard season.
We will be continuing to build our reputation as a skiing and snowboarding freestyle hub with expanded freestyle facilities. Plus, we have a brand new range of English language Ski & Snowboard School and Guided Tour product offerings.
Halfpipe & Terrain Park
In the last couple of years we’ve been quietly building up our freestyle facilities. This includes a 22ft Olympic-sized halfpipe, Japan’s largest, built by renowned World Cup and Olympic park and pipe designer, John Melville of Development Snowparks.
Adding to this, 2017 sees the development of the freestyle terrain park. We’ve increased our fleet of jib features with new rails and boxes, custom made by Development Snowparks. More natural snow features will also be built, including new jump lines, hips and spines.
The halfpipe and terrain park will be open from mid-late January, with features being updated throughout the season. Keep up to date with developments by following our Facebook page and Instagram page.
English Ski & Snowboard School
Seeing the need to the cater to the English speaking market, this season we are excited to introduce an English Ski & Snowboard School. Our small team of instructors is available to teach group and private lessons to kids and adults of all abilities.
Canadian Olympian snowboarder, Katie Tsuyuki will join the team as a coach for part of the season. Katie is available for freestyle snowboard coaching, private lessons and backcountry tours, on selected dates in February.

Freestyle Snowboard Camps
To add to the excitement, we are hosting a Freestyle Snowboard Camp on the weekend of the 10th-12th of February 2017. This is an outstanding opportunity for snowboarders of all levels to train with Snowboard Olympians, Canada’s Katie Tsuyuki and Japan’s Kohei Kudo.
The focus will be on developing freestyle snowboarding skills suitable for the halfpipe and terrain park. See more details on the camps at: aomorispring.com/en/school.
Backcountry and In-Resort Guided Tours
For guests wanting a different kind of snow experience – whether it’s a gentle snow-shoe walk through the tranquil beech forests, or a challenging backcountry adventure, or even an in-bounds guided tour of the resort – we have a range of guided tour options available.
New Ski & Snowboard Rental Fleet
Committed to improving the quality of our guests’ experiences, we have invested in a new high-end ski and snowboard rental fleet and safety equipment. We have adopted Burton Snowboards as a learning partner with its LTR Learn-to-Ride system.
Bring on the Winter!
Please get in touch with our English-speaking staff if you would like more information, or to make accommodation, lesson, or guided tour bookings.
